Busy hands

Hi this is Grace...I've been procrastinating about posting...mostly I have just been too busy to get on the computer and actually post...

I have been busy filling the wonderful glass shelf the hubby made for me out of glass shelves and lumber...I have green all over it...it makes a wasted space in the kitchen much more useful now that it has a purpose.

So far I have planted cucumbers, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, sweet basil, summer savory and possibly a few that I've forgotten...and I can't help browsing for new seeds anytime we're out and about...

I won't say I am a green thumb, even if the hubby insists I'm some sort of gardening expert...I've always been digging in dirt and hoping for something magical to happen

...I remember a place we were living in when I was a child I had to make my own garden. I dug a 2'x2' square smack dab in the middle of our back yard...needless to say my mom wasn't thrilled with me.

Growing older hasn't dulled the thrill of digging in the dirt and bringing it to life. I suppose I've been waiting my whole life for a garden to call my own.

Most of my gardening has been trial and error. Part of the reason I fell in love with our current home was the raised beds in the backyard... Before the snow fell last fall I set to create more gardening space, by turning more than half of the front yard into garden bed...

I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can see my garden spring to life again...so until then I will try to be content with my window garden.

  2. So, I have to say, I'm not surprised and you shouldn't be either. We come from a line of green thumbs, ok maybe it skipped a generation. You have to remember Grandmas patio, no room to move I think there was a chair to sit on (maybe), so many plants and gardening tools. Happy gardening I wish you well on this journey and look forward to your next post. Tammie
